Your practical Car Driving Test Explained

The driving test at Taunton Driving Test Centre lasts around 40 minutes and includes an eye test, Show Me, Tell Me questions, independent driving using a sat nav (or following signposts), a manoeuvre, and possibly an emergency stop.

Please arrive at the centre about 10 minutes early, as it is situated on busy streets.

The Taunton Driving Test Centre can be found at Unit L2, Acres Hill Business Park, Off Venture Way, Taunton, TA2 8RX.

Toilet facilities are available at the test centre in Taunton.

Your practical test will typically follow this structure:

- An eyesight test where you must read a number plate from 20 metres away

- Two "show me, tell me" questions related to vehicle safety and maintenance

- Twenty minutes of general driving guided by the examiner

- Twenty minutes of independent driving, following either sat nav directions or signposts to a designated location

- You will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres: - Parallel parking - Bay parking - Pulling up on the right.
