A huge congratulations to Matt, who has passed his ADI Part 3 test after making the move from classroom teacher to driving instructor in around 12 months, supported by Drive It trainer Paul Andrews.

Changing careers takes commitment, especially when it means learning new skills while getting to grips with the practicalities of a different profession. Matt has embraced that challenge, bringing his teaching experience into a new setting and working towards becoming a confident, effective driving instructor.

Everyone at Drive It School of Motoring is delighted to celebrate his achievement.

Bringing Teaching Experience to the Road for ADI Part 3

Moving from the classroom to the tuition car means a change of surroundings, but many of the foundations of good teaching still apply.

Listening carefully, explaining clearly, recognising when someone needs a different approach and helping learners build confidence all have a place in driving tuition. The challenge is learning to apply those skills while supporting safe decisions on the road.

For Matt, instructor training was an opportunity to build on his experience as a teacher and develop the skills needed to guide learners through an entirely different kind of lesson.

Around 12 months later, passing his Part 3 test marks a fantastic milestone in that career change.

Training and Support with Paul Andrews

Throughout his journey, Matt worked with Drive It trainer Paul Andrews, receiving guidance on both his development as an instructor and the day-to-day responsibilities that come with the job.

Matt’s feedback captures just how much that support meant to him:

“Paul Andrews of Drive It School of Motoring has been an excellent mentor and trainer enabling me to pass my Part 3 ADI test.If you have questions, Paul has the answers, literally ALL of them! You would struggle to find anyone more knowledgeable and up to date within the industry. Paul has given me the tools to be a confident and effective instructor and has supported me with all aspects of the job. I honestly couldn't have negotiated all the elements of training, paperwork and working without his help.Paul's dedication and enthusiasm for the job is infectious and inspiring and you will not find anyone more dedicated - he is always at the end of a message or call for help and advice. I would highly recommend anyone who is serious about qualifying to seek out Paul, you will not regret it!”

It is wonderful feedback to receive, particularly because Matt highlights the support beyond the training sessions themselves. Having someone to turn to for questions about paperwork, working and putting new skills into practice can make a real difference when entering a new profession.

Confidence for the Career Ahead

One of the most rewarding parts of Matt’s feedback is his confidence in the instructor he has become.

Passing Part 3 is a significant achievement. Alongside that result, Matt now feels equipped to deliver effective tuition and manage the wider responsibilities of his new role.

That is what we want our instructor training to achieve: helping people develop the knowledge, judgement and confidence they can draw on throughout their careers.

Matt’s classroom experience gives him a valuable foundation, and his achievement reflects the work he has put into adapting those skills to driving instruction.

Congratulations, Matt!

From classroom teacher to driving instructor in around a year is an achievement to be proud of. Congratulations, Matt, from everyone at Drive It School of Motoring, and thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback about your training with Paul. We wish you every success as you begin this next chapter and help your own learners develop into safe, confident drivers.
