Becoming an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) with Drive It School of Motoring is a career choice that offers both independence and satisfaction. As your own boss, you have flexibility to set your own schedule and work as often as you like. There's nothing quite like the joy of guiding a pupil from their very first lesson to the moment they pass their driving test, knowing you've played a crucial role in their journey to becoming a confident driver. There are 3 main parts to becoming a driving instructor:​

Earn as you learn with the PDI trainee licence
Applying for a trainee licence issued by the DVSA, allows you to earn while you learn! As a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI), you can work full or part-time gaining valuable experience while preparing for your Part 3 instructional ability test. Not only will we provide you with pupils we will also provide ongoing training and support to help you succeed in your journey to becoming a fully qualified driving instructor.

Our instructor training course is tailored to accommodate your busy lifestyle, whether you're managing work or family responsibilities. The course is flexible, taking between 6 to 12 months, allowing you to advance at your own pace according to the time you can commit each week. After completing the initial course, you can gain further paid experience with your trainee license before taking your instructional ability test. From passing your Part 1 you have two years to complete the whole process.
